HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Oh how I love this time of year! The air is so crisp and the leaves are changing beautifully. The abundance of yellows and reds are a wonderful and welcome site to my eyes. With this weather comes Halloween and Thanksgiving, two holidays that I love, but seem to be slowly fading in existence in this day and age. That's another post for another day! ;)

Friday night Zach stayed with his Uncle Adam. We hadn't picked up his costume yet so Adam & Tia took him to pick it up and he had changed his mind from Harry Potter (for what would have been the 3rd year in a row) to a devil. He went and had his picture taken at a Halloween Party at the church Tia's parents attend. I can't wait to see them because they were the old timey pictures like they take at amusement parks. Then on Saturday they went to the Norfolk Zoo with Tia's parents and little brothers. Zach had a blast and when he came home he was telling us all about how cool the animals were and how he scared Tia's mom with his scary mask! :) He said "That zoo wore me out Mom." He took his shower and read some of his National Geographic for Kids Magazine ("his" mail). Soon after he was out like a light on the couch.

Last evening we carved pumpkins with Zach. How great it was to have some quality family bonding time just the four of us. Hunter was here but slept through most of the fun! I was a bit shocked to learn that my son doesn't like getting his hands gooey and slminy from pumpkin "guts". He refused to help clean the pumpkins out and when I grabbed his hand with mine all covered in pumpkin slime, he he about had a fit! As with all family times in this house, laughter was in abundance and this time was no different. I will say this, I am no artist and carving a pumpkin is no exception, especially when your 8 year old wants to do things like bats and spiders! Whatever happened to the plain old jack-o-lantern with the triangle eyes! LOL We had a ball even if Zach wouldn't get gross with us and our pumpkins turned out deformed!

Zach had a great time trick or treating tonight with his cousins Kristy and Amanda, Amanda's boyfriend Dustin and close friend Kimmi. Although we couldn't find a costume to fit Hunter we did his hair up and he helped hand out candy for awhile!
