Spiritual Sunday: My God is Bigger Than the Boogeyman

My God is Bigger than the Boogeyman. Thank the Lord. This morning, I have seen the power of God all around me. As I sat here thinking about that the words to a Veggie Tales song pop in my head. No, it isn't because i have children, it's because Veggie Tales was born when I was a teenager and I stood in a room of thousands of teenagers at Centrifuge watching the very first Veggie Tales clips on the big screen. I can remember the lines, "My God is Bigger than the Boogeyman, he's bigger than Godzilla and the monsters on TV" very well. I never knew that those lines would be on my mind over 10 years later as I see God working and moving in my life, but hey whatever works huh?

I guess I need to introduce myself. I'm Alyssa Avant, Christian writer, ghostwriter and speaker, and founder of Beauty by Design Ministries and Arika the main Wahmmy around here asked me to be the Spiritual Wahmmy here so I'll be contributing blogs on Sunday's. It's kinda cool that Sunday is my favorite day of the week huh?

Sunday is my favorite day because it's church day and honestly, I"m a church girl. Once as a teenager a mean girl teased me by saying, "you're one of those church girls aren't you?" when she saw me reading my Bible late one night at Girl's Leadership camp, but today, years later those words don't sting so bad. Honey, yes I'm a church girl and proud of it. My mom and dad raised me in church and it is still a huge part of my life. No church is not the end all be all, a relationship with God is much more important, but church is a basic building block in my life, one that helps to strengthen my relationship with God and holds things together in my life a bit better.

This afternoon, I am sitting here praising God that he's bigger than the boogeyman. God is allowing things to happen for me and providing a means by which that they do so. You see I have made some commitments to get out of debt and live frugally in 2008 and so I had pulled the plug on my Mom-Daughter Connection Radio show in order to cut funds. Today, God showed me he had other plans. He blessed me with help from a friend and a sponsor for my show. So after a weekend where I have been quite down over money. My God shows me he's bigger than that boogeyman in my life, the almighty dollar.

I am praising God for being so big today. What about you?
